Tofu and beans can be used as meat substitutes. The mashed potatoes dish comes with bacon and a prepared salad. The squash meal is a rice dish which can be served without meat. If you're going for an inexpensive meal you could consider omitting the meat since it's usually the most expensive ingredient. I do eat meat but I DON'T eat meat at every meal. With packages of even low grade meat at $10 a pop I can't afford to.

10 Hearty Meals for $10... That's what the sign says... That's what they want you to believe...BUT what's wrong with these meals? Four of them aren't complete meals. No.3 the Butternut squash risotto by itself isn't a "hearty meal". Hell it's not even a complete meal. Ditto for No. 5. How about some meat with those mashed potatoes. No. 8 the Tangerine Tofu? YUCK!! Who would eat that crap? No. 10 The Ziti and Escarole. Once again where's the meat? Those meals are not balanced and they cetainly aren't "hearty." These recipes are for the pretentious, vacant minded, politically correct zombies that read and actually believe the crap this site is peddling..
