MaryEllen157: Sounds like your mashed potatoes are how I make mine. The only difference is on the holidays, I use 1/2 can of carnation cream in place of the lowfat milk. So delicious. Everyone loves them.Oh, Miss6ft3...lets be nice and not criticize people. No one is perfect. Besides, most people on the holidays (whether they admit it or not) like all of the rich fatting goodies. So, if hrkh712 likes his potatoes, who are you to be mean to him. Everyone has their way of doing things.

I know this is about reds but try yukon gold potato and use heavy cream instead of milk(heavy or whipping cream has fewer carbs than whole milk) and real butter, salt and pepper, and watch the faces of your guests..they will probably skip the gravy they are so good just as they are.

I always leave the skins on half of the potatoes, add Lawry's season salt, pepper, real butter, sour cream and mayonaise. I also add freshly grated parmasean cheese and/or sharp cheddar cheese, or cream cheese. Everyone loves them - even those that hate mayo :-)
